I remember back in 2005, Dec 13th. I went to the protest of Tookie after reading his book "Life in Prison". I went with a few friend's and we talked about who really had power. In this case, the system clearly had power and they gave a s*** if Tookie wrote books, was an example of transformation, etc... The system injected lethal injection and killed Tookie. They killed someone who i looked up to that it is never to late for a positive change. Would have made a more positive difference in the lives of millions in this world had they just kept him alive at least or better yet freed him. But in all reality, our system doesn't want those from the neighborhood to work within the neighborhood as case managers, counselors, teachers, etc... They call us threats, and instead, want to create gang injunctions and kick us out.
Rest in Power Tookie and all other political prisoners. For you all, i am able to trust in my struggle and live for the hood.
